Foscam VMS Quick Setup Guide

 

Purpose

This guide will walk you through the process of adding your Foscam cameras to our VMS software interface. 

 

Step 1: Accounts/User Login

After installing and opening Foscam VMS, you’ll be prompted to enter VMS login credentials. For the initial login, please leave the default fields populated and click “Login” (you can then modify the default credentials under Settings>Users and groups).

 

Step 2: Add a Device

To add a Foscam device to the VMS software interface, click the “Add Device” icon  located at the top of the screen. This will bring up the device configuration interface, which scans all devices currently connected to your network via Ethernet or WiFi.

To setup your camera:

1)      Select your camera from the list of connected devices;

2)      The fields in the top half of the screen should auto-populate;

3)      Click “p2p connection” for Peer to Peer remote connectivity;

4)      Proceed by entering the camera’s Username and Password;

5)      Click “Add” in the lower-left corner of the device configuration interface.

 

Step 3: View your Live Feed and Browse Recordings (Local, SD Card, Cloud)

Once your device(s) has been successfully added, you’re now set to view your live feed and Foscam cloud recordings (note: an active cloud subscription is required to view cloud recordings).

 

To access your Live Feed:

1)      Click the IP Camera Icon  at the top of your screen. Your Live Feed will then steam through the current window.

2)      You can then access the Pan/Tilt/Zoom controls (if your model supports it) to the right of the interface to control your camera:  QSG%20Images/Screen%20Shot%202017-05-10%20at%201.09.10%20PM.png.

To access your Local Recordings:

1)      Click the Movie Icon   at the top of your screen. Your Local Recordings will then appear in the form of a timeline at the bottom of the screen.

2)      You can select dates where recordings occurred by clicking the calendar in the lower-right portion of the screen.

 

To access your Cloud Recordings:

3)      Click the Cloud Icon  at the top of your screen. Your Cloud History will then appear in the form of a timeline at the bottom of the screen.

4)      You can select dates where recordings occurred by clicking the calendar in the lower-right portion of the screen.

 

Basic Settings

Select Image Capture Storage Path

To save your video recordings and images to your hard drive:

1)      Go to Settings>General;

2)      Type in the file path under “Capture path:”

 

Select Recording Capture Storage Path

To save your video recordings and images to your hard drive:

1)      Go to Settings>Record Settings;

2)      Click “Local Recording”;

3)      Type in the file path under “Path”.

Note: Check “Loop Recording” if you’d like old video to be overwritten with new video once free space runs out.

 

Configure Alarm Settings

To configure settings for motion and sound detection:

1)      Go to Settings>Alarm Settings

2)      Select the device you’d like to configure alarm settings for

3)      Select the Alarm Type (ex. Motion Detection)

4)      Select the Action you’d like to take once the Alarm Type is triggered (ex. Record the live footage that triggered the alarm)

5)      Set a time and date schedule for when you’d like the alert triggering process to be active

6)      Click “Save” once done.
